Gary Mosley, Princeton Men's Lacrosse Captains Honored At Fall Celebration
October 20, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse
It's not easy for Gary Mosley to share a moment with people who've been part of Princeton University longer than he has.
Mosley, Princeton's assistant equipment manager, is in his fourth decade with the men's lacrosse team. This past Saturday night gave Mosley, who is usually content to stay out of the spotlight, center stage in the Tiger lacrosse world, as he was honored with the Beth Tortolani Memorial Cup, awarded to a member of the program for longtime support and dedication to Princeton lacrosse.
Mosley began working at Princeton in 1972 at Printing and Mailing and worked there and at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab before coming to the Department of Athletics in 1986.
“Gary Mosley has given so much to Princeton lacrosse and Princeton lacrosse players for a long, long time,” head coach Chris Bates said. “Gary - G Money”, as he is affectionately know - is a no nonsense guy who is a big part of every one of our guy's career here. G supports and encourages them in every way to have a great experience and reach their full potential. No one celebrates their team and individual triumphs quite like Gary. He really is instrumental in helping them grow as men. Like any great mentor, Gary stays with the players long after they leave Princeton. It was truly a special opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy for our Tiger Lacrosse program."
The event was the annual Friends of Princeton Men's Lacrosse Fall Celebration. The day began with the annual alumni game and continued with the evening's program at the Hyatt Regency.

In addition to honoring Mosley, Princeton also recognized nearly 40 former captains, who came back to the event. The oldest in the group was Phil Allen, the 1962 captain.
"One of the very best parts of Princeton lacrosse is the loyalty of those who have played here throught the years," Bates said. "Being able to see all those captains, from all those years, together was a great moment for the program. It was also great for our current players to have a living reminder of what they are representing when they wear our uniform."
Princeton did not compete in a fall event this year. The Tigers went 9-6 last year, sharing the Ivy League championship and reaching the final of the Ivy tournament.
