Men's Squash Claims Home Opener Over Navy; Trio Picks Up Five-Set Wins
November 22, 2015 | Men's Squash
The Tigers were well aware of Navy's potential, especially following a 5-4 road loss the previous season, and they won three of the four five-game matches against the Midshipmen.
One of the winners was freshman Clark Doyle, who had a long taste of what collegiate squash is like during his first weekend. One day after a 3-2 road win at Franklin & Marshall, Princeton's No. 2 player overcame a 2-1 deficit with back-to-back 11-8 wins to stay unbeaten on the young season.
Classmate Spencer Anton also capped a perfect weekend in his collegiate debut with a 3-1 win at the No. 3 spot.
The sophomore duo of Jarryd Osborne (No. 4) and Komron Shayegan (No. 5) were both pushed to the distance, but both were conclusive winners in the fifth game. Osborne topped Reed Whitney 11-4 in the fifth, while Shayegan topped Bill Kacergis 11-2 in the fifth.
Princeton is off for Thanksgiving week, but will travel to Drexel Tues., Dec. 1, for a 6:30 showdown in Philadelphia.
