Fourth-Ranked Rochester Claims 8-1 Men's Squash Win In December Finale

Sophomore Abhimanyu Shah picked up Princeton's lone win in an 8-1 loss to fourth-ranked Rochester Sunday afternoon at the Jadwin Squash Courts. Shah, playing at the No. 8 spot, was dominant in an opening 11-2 win, and he followed it up with wins of 11-6 and 11-8 to claim Princeton's lone individual win.

The bottom of the ladder, which was especially strong in Saturday's 6-3 loss to third-ranked St. Lawrence, nearly pulled off another sweep Sunday. Former Ivy League Rookie of the Year Vivek Dinodia rallied from 2-0 down, including a 12-10 win in the third, but fell 11-7 in the fifth.

Freshman William Oon also trailed 2-0, and he came back with wins of 11-7 and 11-7 to draw a fifth game. That one needed extra points before Meng Xiaomen won 12-10.

Rochester was simply too strong at the top of the ladder; the Yellowjackets dropped only one individual game in the first five matches.

Princeton will now be off for the winter break, and will return the weekend of Jan. 9-10 to begin Ivy League play at Dartmouth and Harvard. The Ivy League season got off to an unexpected start last week, when Dartmouth picked up its first win over Harvard since the 1945-46 season.
