Currier Is Preseason Second-Team All-America As Four Tigers Earn Honors
December 08, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse
Zach Currier, Princeton's do-everything junior midfielder, has been named a preseason second-team All-America by Face-Off Yearbook.
Princeton also had three honorable mention selections - attackman Ryan Ambler, middie Gavin McBride and defenseman Bear Goldstein.
Currier had 11 goals and 14 assists and won 45% of his face-offs in 2015, though his numbers tell almost nothing of the impact he has on games. His tenacity enabled him to pick up 81 ground balls, the most by a Princeton shortstick in nearly 20 years. His ability to play both ends of the field and either face-off or play the face-off wing will keep him on the field as much as any middie in the country.
Ambler had a 22-goal, 29-assist junior year and will be in his fourth year as a starter on attack. McBride, a junior, will be Princeton's leading returning goal-scorer after his 24 last year, with 13 assists. Goldstein, also a junior, is the only player on the team who has started every game of his career.
