Squash Fends Off Drexel 5-4, Will Face Dartmouth For Hoehn Cup
February 21, 2015 | Men's Squash
Kang took the court first during the final shift, and he was challenged by Luke Willemse in the final two games. Kang pulled out both 11-9 to secure the 3-0 win and put Princeton within one match of the final.
Hoffman was more than happy to do the rest. The senior tri-captain dropped only 17 points in his entire match, an 11-3, 11-6, 11-8 victory over Michael Thompson that gives Princeton a chance to defend its Hoehn Cup title from last year.
The Tigers will now face Dartmouth, whom they defeated 6-3 at the Jadwin Squash Courts earlier this season. Princeton had two 3-2 victories in that match, while Sam Ezratty had a very tight 3-1 win.
Ezratty had one of the biggest wins of the day for Princeton. The Tigers trailed 2-1 after the first shift, and their lone win came via an 11-9 win in the fifth game for junior Michael LeBlanc at the No. 6 spot. Ezratty dropped his opener at the No. 8 spot, but he defeated Sebastian Dangond 11-7 in the second to draw even. He won the final two games to deliver the win, and senior tri-captain Tyler Osborne added a win at No. 2 to even the match at 3-3.
