Orban, MacDonald, Ambler Rebound In A Huge Way As Tigers Top Penn 17-11

Kip Orban, Ryan Ambler and Mike MacDonald waited seven frustrating days to get back on the lacrosse field. When they finally did, the trio made up for what happened in their last game in an astonishing way.
Orban, Ambler and MacDonald combined for an extraordinary 26 points to lead Princeton to a 17-11 win over Penn in front of 627 on a rainy day at Franklin Field in the Ivy League opener for both teams. The offensive explosion came one week after all three were held without a point in the Tigers 11-4 loss to Maryland.
Princeton is now 4-1 overall with a game at Rutgers Tuesday night. Penn fell to 3-4 overall.
Between the three there were 15 goals and 11 assists. Orban had a career-high seven goals, scoring on all seven of his shots, and added two assists for a career-best nine points. MacDonald had a career-best six assists and tied his career high with nine points, and Ambler tied his career high of five goals and set a new career high with eight points.
It was an amazing bounce-back from a week ago, when the three were kept completely off the scoreboard. Orban had the nation's longest streak of consecutive games with at least one goal end at 29 straight, and Orban and MacDonald were held without a point for the first time in 31 straight.
A WHOLE BUNCH OF NOTES
* MacDonald had three goals and six assists, including a behind-the-back goal and behind-the-back assist. In four career games against Penn, MacDonald now has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points (6.8 points per game).
* MacDonald now has 97 career goals and 61 career assists. He needs three goals to become the 10th 100-goal scorer in program history, and he moved into 11th place all-time scoring at Princeton with 158 points, five away from tying David Tickner for 10th.
* MacDonald had the third nine-point game of his career and second this season, after his five-goal, four-assist game against Hofstra.
* Orban's seven goals made him the third player on the team with at least seven in a game along with MacDonald (who had seven against Cornell in 2013) and Jake Froccaro (who had 10 against Yale last year).
* Ambler had five goals and three assists to reach the 90-point mark for his career (47G, 43A)
* Princeton never trailed in the game. It was tied at 1-1 and 2-2 before Princeton scored five straight, opening up a 7-2 lead. Penn would get within one at 10-9 in the third before Princeton scored five straight again, as Orban and MacDonald had two each on that run.
* Gavin McBride had a goal, giving him at least one in every game this season. He is the only on the team who has scored in every game.
* Sean Connors had his first caerer goal.
* Princeton has scored 14, 14, 16 and 17 goals in its four wins and had four in its one loss.
* Princeton scored 17 goals on 35 shots.
* Sam Bonafede won 17 of 28 face-offs and a team-best seven ground balls. Sam Gravitte had five ground balls.
