Orban Named USILA Offensive Player Of The Week
March 18, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse
Finally the college lacrosse world is figuring out how good Kip Orban is.
Orban, Princeton's senior captain, was named the USILA Offensive Player of the Week after his seven-goal, two-assist, nine-point performance in the 17-11 win over Penn last Saturday at Franklin Field.
Orban, who received no postseason honors last year or preseason honors this year, was also named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week for his performance. The other player honored, Brown defender Larken Kemp, was named USILA Defensive Player of the Week.
Orban added two more goals Tuesday night in a 12-11 win over Rutgers, giving him 74 career goals and 23 career assists. With three more career points, he will become the 29th player in program history to reach 100 career points.
With his nine goals in the last two games, Orban now has 18 through six games, second-best on the Tigers. Orban is tied with Duke's Myles Jones - one of the Tewaraaton Trophy favorites at this point of the season - for most goals per game by a midfielder in Division I (3.0). They are 11th overall.
Princeton hosts Yale Saturday at 3.
