May 21, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse
Kip Orban, who led all Division I midfielders in goals and goals per game, was named a USILA second-team All-America.
Mike MacDonald, who set the Princeton record for points in a season, was named an honorable mention All-America.
Orban finished his senior year with 45 goals and seven assists. His 45 goals were nine more than the previous record for a Princeton middie and were 9.5 more than the average goal total of the four first-team midfielders - Duke's Myles Jones, Cornell's Connor Buczek, Notre Dame's Sergio Perkovic and North Carolina's Chad Tutton.
In addition, Orban's shooting percentage was .413, or more than 100 points higher than the .306 of Tutton, who had the highest percentage among the four first-team selections.
Orban finished his career with exactly 100 goals.
As for MacDonald, he scored 78 points this season on 48 goals and 30 assists, making him the first Princeton player ever with a season of at least 40 goals and at least 30 assists.
His 78 points are the most ever in a season by a Princeton men's lacrosse player. The players who rank 2-3-4 on that list are Jon Hess, Jesse Hubbard and Kevin Lowe, two of whom are in the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame and all three of whom were first-team All-Americas.
MacDonald had at least three goals in a game 10 times this year, and he graduates with 132 career goals, third-best all-time at Princeton, and 208 career points, fifth-best. He is one of two players in Princeton men's lacrosse history to finish in the top 10 in both goals and assists.
