LIVE VIDEO: Rutgers
The Princeton women's volleyball team is 2-4 on the young season, but it will look for some momentum heading into next weekend's Ivy League opener when it takes on Duquesne, Rutgers and Howard this weekend at the Rutgers Tournament.
All matches will be played in the College Avenue Gym, and all will have live stats. The Rutgers match (Friday, 7 pm) will be streamed live on BTN Plus, though a subscription is required. Links for all can be found above.
Princeton is led by senior opposite Kendall Peterkin, who became the 12th Tiger in 25 years to record 1,000 career kills. Peterkin earned Regional All-America honors last season, and she currently ranks fourth in the Ivy League with 3.17 kills per set. While Peterkin has been a dominant force in the league four years, freshman teammate Nnenna Ibe is showing plenty of potential before her Ivy debut. The middle blocker currently leads the Ivy League with a .427 attack percentage.
Princeton will open the tournament Friday at 10 am against Duquesne. The Dukes are 5-6 on the season, and both they and Princeton had matching 3-1 losses to Hofstra early this season. A balanced offense, Duquesne has three players with at least 2.5 kills per set this season.
The host Scarlet Knights are 2-7, though these will be their first matches at home. While plenty will change when Ivy season begins, the match could provide an early indication as to where Princeton stands against reigning Ivy co-champions Harvard and Yale. Rutgers lost to both already this season (3-0 to Harvard, 3-1 to Yale). Princeton and Rutgers will conclude Friday's play with a 7 pm match.
The Tigers will play their final nonleague match Saturday at 10:30 am against the Howard Bison. The Bison are 2-10, including a 3-0 loss to Penn.
