Sept. 24 TigerCast: Sean Driscoll and Mason Darrow
September 24, 2015 | Football, General, Women's Soccer
(We apologize with the technical difficulties from last week's episode. Both the Sept. 17 edition with DiAndre Atwater and John Hill, as well as this week's podcast with Sean Driscoll and Mason Darrow, are available on the TigerCast page.)
One team is looking for a big start to its Ivy League season, and the other is looking to head into the Ivy season with a perfect record. Both will be playing in Princeton during Community & Staff Day this Saturday night, and both will be featured on this week's edition of TigerCast. Sean Driscoll, the first-year head coach of the women's soccer team, and Mason Darrow, a junior offensive lineman who made national headlines last week, are this week's guests.
Driscoll was the associate head coach of a successful Fairfield program, but Princeton was a dream opportunity for him that opened when Julie Shackford retired after a brilliant 20-year career. His team has already had impressive performances this season, especially the 3-2 win over William & Mary, a Top-25 program. The Tigers will host Yale at 4 pm on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium, a game you can watch on the Ivy League Digital Network.
Darrow made national headlines last week when he came out publicly to OutSports.com, but he also completed a challenging physical journey of his own when he returned to field Saturday night following a torn ACL last season. Darrow was a member of the offensive line rotation that pushed the Tiger offense to more than 300 rushing yards. The offense will need another strong outing Saturday against a Lehigh team coming off a 42-point effort last weekend. Darrow talks about the craziness of his last two weeks, as well as both the process behind his decision and the excitement of getting back on the field.
If you are new to TigerCast, the weekly Thursday podcast will provide an in-depth look at Princeton teams through interviews with coaches and student-athletes. The podcast will feature all 38 Tiger teams throughout the year, and there will also be information on key upcoming events during each show.
You can access the TigerCast page here or by clicking the microphone tab on the right side of the page. All previous TigerCasts will be stored on this page as well.
