No. 11 Princeton Men's Water Polo Powers Past George Washington, 14-9

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 11th-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team closed out the opening weekend of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division play with a 14-9 victory over George Washington University.
With the win the Tigers improved to 9-3 on the season and 1-0 in CWPA Southern play. Princeton returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Bucknell University.
Jumping out to a 4-2 lead in the first quarter, the Tigers netted three of the four scores in the second period. Blowing the game open in the third, Princeton held a 5-3 scoring edge to build a five-goal cushion it would not relinquish.
Thomas Nelson paced the Princeton attack with four goals and a pair of steals. Ryan Wilson had four goals and three assists, while Michael Swart and Jovan Jeremic each netted a pair of scores. Jordan Colina and Connor McGoldrick accounted for the Tigers' other two goals, with Colina also collecting two steals and three drawn ejections.
Making three saves in the first quarter, Mitrovic turned away five shots in the second period. Tacking on four stops in the third, Mitrovic had one save in the fourth to finish with 13. Taking over in net with 4:01 remaining in regulation, Ryan Melosini recorded a pair of stops.
