Tigers Show Greater Consistency, But Laval Offense Wins Out In 3-0 Victory

BOX SCORE
Sophomore Kendall Ratter posted the fifth double-digit kill match of his career — and first of the 2016 season — but Canadian power Laval completed a road sweep Friday night with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-21 victory over the Tigers at Dillon Gym.
Princeton fell to 0-3, though the Tigers played perhaps their most consistent match of a challenging opening week. After a 3-0 loss Tuesday to sixth-ranked Ohio State, Princeton has played back-to-back matches with Laval, the sixth-ranked team in Canada, and the Tigers went toe-to-toe the whole way.
Unfortunately, they simply didn't have enough answers for the Laval attack, especially Vicente Ignacio Parraguirre Villalobos, who finished the weekend with 33 kills on only 41 swings with only two errors (none of which happened Friday night).
Ratter had his best match of the young season; he added three digs, an ace and a block to his 10 kills. Freshman Corry Short recorded nine kills, three digs and two blocks, while sophomore Billy Andrew added five kills and four blocks during the match.
Junior Chris Kennedy paced the offense with 17 assists, while both Kennedy and Michael Bagnell had four digs apiece.
Princeton will now break for Finals, and it will return to the court Jan. 25 in Los Angeles to face the fifth-ranked UCLA Bruins.
