DaSilva Posts Shutout in 5-0 Win at Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (1/8/16) - Sophomore Alysia DaSilva made 23 saves to earn her second shutout of the season as the Princeton women's hockey team defeated Union 5-0 on Friday night.
The Tigers have won their last nine games, dating back to Nov. 27th. During that 9-0 stretch, Princeton has outscored its opponents by a 39-7 margin.
Leading scorer Karlie Lund, who is the second-leading freshman scorer in the nation, had a three-point night with two goals and one assist. Junior Cassidy Tucker had a goal and an assist, while classmates Morgan Sly and Molly Strabley notched two assists apiece.
Junior Hilary Lloyd scored the lone goal of the first period, with Lund and junior Molly Contini assisting at 14:40. Lund made it 2-0 with help from Strabley and Sly in the second period.
The Tigers broke the game open with a pair of goals within 41 seconds in the third period. Sly and Strabley helped to set up Tucker at 4:24, before junior Kelsey Koelzer and Tucker assisted on Lund's 11th goal of the season at 5:05.
Freshman Keiko DeClerck tallied her first career goal with 46 seconds left as junior Maddie Peake and freshman Stephanie Sucharda assisted.
Princeton outshot Union 40-23, with a hefty 14-3 third-period differential. The Tigers were 0 for 3 on the power play and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill. Princeton's penalty kill ranks second nationally, as the Tigers have allowed just four power-play goals all season on 74 chances.
With a 14-4-1 overall record, and sitting in second place in the ECAC Hockey standings at 8-4-1, the team will take a break from action for Fall semester finals and break.
The Tigers will return to action on Monday, Jan. 25 at Connecticut.
