Princeton's Men's Lacrosse Team To Head To Portugal
October 24, 2016 | Men's Lacrosse
The Princeton men's lacrosse team will spend its fall break in Portugal, where it will visit the capital city of Lisbon and coastal region of the Algarve, participate in service projects with local youngsters and play three games against the English national team.
Princeton leaves this coming Saturday and will be in Portugal for eight days. The trip, which coincides with fall break, has been made possible through the thoughtful generosity of Princeton lacrosse alumni, parents and friends.
"We're obvioulsy looking forward to this incredible opportunity," said Princeton head coach Matt Madalon. "It's a chance to play three games against a very strong English team, but it's so much more than just the lacrosse piece. We will have a chance to experience the Porgugese culture, spend time with some of the kids in their communities and do some fun team-building activities, like zip-lining from the Spanish side to the Portugese side. It's something that I think the guys on the team will remember forever, and we all want to thank everyone associated with Princeton Lacrosse who makes this possible every four years."
Princeton has made an international trip every four years, which is the NCAA rule, since it traveled to Japan in 2004. The 2008 trip was to Spain and Ireland, and Princeton visited Costa Rica four years ago.
The first half of the trip will be in the Algarve, which is in southern Portugal. The team will finish the trip in Lisbon, which is where the games against the English team will be played.
There will be updates throughout the trip on goprincetontigers.com, TigerBlog and the Twitter and Instagram feeds of Princeton Athletics and the men's lacrosse team.
