No. 13 Princeton Picks Up Two Wins At DeNunzio

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 13 Princeton Tigers registered two non-conference victories at DeNunzio Pool on Sunday afternoon, dropping No. 16 George Washington, 15-8 and then disposing Navy, 12-7.

One week after setting the program record in assists, sophomore Matt Payne returned with a five-goal outing vs. the Colonials. Senior Jovan Jeremic added a hat trick while senior Vojislav Mitrovic made nine saves in the victory.
Princeton got off to a hot start, running off four straight goals to begin the game. George Washington scored two of the next three tallies to get within three (5-2) at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers' defense shined, pitching a shutout over a 5:29 span of the second stanza, scoring five more times during that span. The Tigers led 10-3 at halftime before posting its third straight quarter with five goals to take a 15-5 advantage after 24 minutes, cruising to a victory.

While Navy opened with the game's first goal, Princeton controlled the pace with the next five tallies, holding its opponent scoreless for over eight minutes. The Tigers went on a three-goal spurt and took a 9-4 lead into the intermission. Leading by four, Colina's tally with 2:18 left in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach.
