Koelzer Invited to USA Hockey National Festival

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (7/31/16) - Kelsey Koelzer of the Princeton women's hockey team has been invited to the 2016 USA Hockey Women's National Festival it was announced by USA Hockey this week.
Koelzer is one of a select 95 players that will take part in the festival on Aug. 8-14 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The festival is an annual training session that is also used to select two 22-player rosters for a pair of series against Canada, which will be held simultaneaously from Aug. 17-21 in Calgary. All six games in Calgary will be streamed live at FASTHockey.com. The US entries will feature an Under-18 Select Team and Under-22 Select Team, and those rosters will be announced on Aug. 13.
All practices and scrimmages associated are open to the public.
Princeton has three players in national team camps this summer, as Koelzer joins Stephanie Sucharda and Steph Neatby who are at the Canadian National Development Camp. The trio hope to meet again in Calgary for the US vs. Canada series.
The Princeton program has had 10 players play for USA hockey select, national and Olympic teams - most notably Andrea Kilbourne '03 who won a silver medal at the 2003 Olympic Games. Current head coach Jeff Kampersal was the head coach of the Under-18 team for two years.
Koelzer is a first-team All-AMerica and Patty Kazmaier top-10 finalist. The top draft pick in the 2016 NWHL Draft, Koelzer was named the 2016 ECAC Best Defender and and Ivy League Player of the Year. She was named first-team all-ECAC and all-Ivy League, while ranking second in the country amongst scoring defender averaging 1.00 point per game. She had 33 points on 17 goals, 13 assists, 60 blocks and was a member of special teams.
