Crimson Tops Tiger Squash Team 8-1
January 15, 2017 | Men's Squash
The fourth-ranked Harvard men's squash team took control of Sunday's Ivy League showdown with No. 11 Princeton by sweeping the opening shift, and the Crimson improved to 3-0 in league play with an 8-1 victory at the Jadwin Squash Courts.
Sophomore Cody Cortes got the Tigers on the board with a gritty comeback against Madhav Dhingra at the No. 3 position. Trailing 2-1, Cortes battled back for wins of 11-9 and 12-10 to take the match.
Freshman Shehab Thabet, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit Saturday afternoon against Dartmouth, pushed Crimson veteran Bryan Koh in four tough games before eventually suffering defeat. Classmate Abhimanyu Shah also played a couple of tight games, but he fell at the No. 1 position.
Princeton will now take a couple weeks off for Finals, but it will return to the Jadwin Squash Courts Feb. 1 against Penn. The match will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
