No. 11 Princeton Nabs Two NWPC Over MIT and No. 14 Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 11 Princeton Tigers earned two more victories in Northeast Water Polo Conference action, defeating the MIT Engineers, 13-11, and the No. 14 Brown Bears, 9-8, at DeNunzio Pool on Sunday.
The Highlights:
MIT scored five times in the second quarter to take a 7-6 lead at half.
Tied at 9-all, Princeton rolled out four straight goals to take a commanding lead into the fourth frame.
MIT posted two tallies in the fourth frame, but Princeton held the road squad scoreless over the final 3:50.

An evenly played first quarter saw the Tigers take the last two goals, giving the home unit a 4-2 lead following eight minutes.
After the two teams exchanged goals, MIT went on a run, scoring three straight, taking its first lead of the contest, 6-5, at the 2:26 mark. The Engineers held a 7-6 lead at halftime.
After the intermission, Princeton turned up the offensive intensity with seven scores. The Tigers held the Engineers to just two goals during that span, setting the contest at 13-9, after 24 minutes.
The Tigers allowed just two goals in the final stanza while Ryan Melosini held the Engineers off the scoreboard for the last 3:50 of game action.

After Brown scored the first goal of the second half, Michael Swart and Miles Cole, putting the Tigers back in front, 6-4, with 4:16 to go. The Bears didn't go away, tying the game at 6-all, 27 seconds into the final stanza.
Logan MacDonell and Ryan Wilson helped put the home squad back on top, 8-6, with 2:21 on the clock. Brown would score two of the next three, but Princeton held the Bears off the scoreboard for the last 40 seconds to earn the win.
