Sophomore Abby Givens scored the biggest goal of her career Sunday afternoon in her home state, providing the game-winner to lift Princeton over No. 2 North Carolina 2-1 and into Saturday's NCAA quarterfinal at No. 4 UCLA.
For her part in what has to rank as one of the greatest athletic achievements in Princeton history, Givens has been named the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.
Givens has a team-best 11 goals, almost quadrupling her total from her freshman season a year ago (three), and she leads the team with 28 points. She's scored in two of Princeton's three NCAA tournament games, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead in an eventual 4-0 first-round win over Monmouth at Roberts Stadium.
Givens earned first-team All-Ivy League honors this season, a campaign that will continue with Saturday's 8:30 p.m. ET quarterfinal at UCLA with a trip to Orlando for the NCAA College Cup on the line.
