Milestone Update: McBride, Sowers, Currier

With the end of the regular season, the Princeton men's lacrosse team can look ahead to the Ivy League tournament, which begins Friday at Yale. The second-seeded Tigers will play third-seeded Brown in the first semifinal, with face-off at 3:30, followed by top-seeded Yale against fourth-seeded Penn. The final is Sunday at noon.

Before the tournament, here is an update on where Princeton's Michael Sowers, Zach Currier and Gavin McBride stand relative to certain milestones:

Gavin McBride
* leads Division I with 51 goals
* is the only player in Division I with at least 50 goals
* ranks second at Princeton for goals in a season with 51, two behind the record of 53, set in 1996 by Jesse Hubbard
* has 101 career goals, making him one of 12 players in program history to reach 100 goals for his career
* has 66 points, eighth-best in Division I
* his 66 points tie for the eighth-best single-season total in program history
* has seven games this season of five or more goals (out of 14 played)

Zach Currier
* has 22 goals, 34 assists, 56 points, 17 caused turnovers, 114 ground balls and 93 for 168 facing off
* is the only player in program history with at least 50 points and 100 ground balls in a season
* is the only player in Division I with at least 50 points and 100 ground balls this season
* there are eight players in Division I with at least 100 ground balls - the other seven combined have 48 points
* ranks seventh in Division I in assists per game and 18th in Division I points per game
* second all-time at Princeton with 286 ground balls
* there are 21 players in Division I with at least 56 points; the other 20 average 24.5 ground balls, with no player in the group with more than 44
* second midfielder in program history with at least 20 goals and 30 assists in a season (along with Tom Schreiber in 2013)

Michael Sowers
* has 77 points (37G, 40A), one away from tying the program single-season record of 78, set in 2015 by Mike MacDonald
* holds the Ivy League record for points by a freshman (77)
* is second all-time in the Ivy League in goals by a freshman with 37 (two away from the record, set by Cornell's Sean Greenhalgh in 2002)
* is third all-time in the Ivy League in assists by a freshman with 40 (two away from Cornell's Rob Pannell, who had 42 in 2009, and three away from Princeton's Kevin Lowe, who had 43 in 1991)
* ranks third in Division I in points and fourth in assists; leads the Ivy League in both
* is the only player in program history with at least 35 goals and at least 40 assists in the same season
* is the fourth player in program history with at least 40 assists in a season

Sowers, McBride
* highest-scoring teammates in a season in program history with 143 points

Sowers, Currier
* first time in program history there have been two players with at least 34 assists in the same season

* third time in program history that three teammates have had at least 56 points in a season (Jesse Hubbard, Chris Massey and Jon Hess did it in both 1996 and 1997)
