Schreiber Named National Lacrosse League Rookie Of The Year
June 26, 2017 | Men's Lacrosse
Indoors. Outdoors. It doesn't seem to matter for Tom Schreiber.
First the Princeton alum was named the Most Valuable Player of Major League Lacrosse, the professional outdoor league. Then, a few months later, he decided to try his hand at the indoor game, in the National Lacrosse League.
The result? He earned NLL Rookie of the Year honors, the league announced.
Playing box lacrosse for the first time, Schreiber had a monster season for the Toronto Rock, finishing with 33 goals an 61 assists for 94 points. The 61 assists were sixth in the league, and he tied for seventh with the 94 points.
Schreiber was also one of four players in the entire league to appear in all 18 regular season games and not commit a penalty. Toronto improved by four wins over its 2016 total and went from last in the Eastern Division in 2016 to second in the division and a playoff spot in 2017.
A three-time first-team All-America at Princeton before graduating in 2014, Schreiber is back to playing with the Ohio Machine in the MLL.
