Videoboard, New Seats Among Upgrades This Season in Jadwin

By the time the Princeton men's and women's basketball teams play their first home games of the new season in November, many Tiger fans will be watching from brand new seats and will be seeing videos and replays on the largest video screen of any Ivy League arena or any college arena in New Jersey.
"We would like to thank all of those who have supported this project and, in particular, we would like to thank the project's lead donor, John Rogers '80, for his tremendous generosity in helping to make these improvements a reality," Mitch Henderson, the Franklin C. Cappon-Edward G. Green '40 head coach of Princeton men's basketball, said. "We are thrilled to reward our longtime fans, as well as bring new fans through the door with these upgrades to Jadwin Gym. This overwhelmingly enhances the fan experience. There's a 'wow factor' at Jadwin, and all who will enter will be captivated by the board and new seating arrangement. I can't wait to share this with our fans in November and I am very thankful to everyone who made a long-lasting contribution to the men's and women's basketball programs."
The north-side (behind press row and courtside seats) and south-side (behind the benches) bleachers will be replaced by chair-back seats, and above center court will hang a four-sided video board with a ring of ribbon board below the four screens.
"Our new video board and bleachers will help provide an electric atmosphere in Jadwin for our talented student-athletes to showcase their skills," Ford Family Director of Athletics Mollie Marcoux Samaan '91 said. "We are committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience by having facilities that match the quality of our programs. We are so grateful to John and our other generous supporters for helping us offer these wonderful amenities to Jadwin!"
The new north-side and south-side bleachers will provide seating for 1,120 fans, and the sections will end closer to the court than the previous bleachers did. Future plans will make similar adjustments for the west and east bleachers.
"Many great players and teams have competed inside the lines of Carril Court," Princeton women's basketball coach Courtney Banghart said. "While the facility is steeped in tradition, these upgrades will immediately improve the viewing experience and create an overall better in game atmosphere. We are thrilled to offer this to our fans!"
The center-court video boards, which will show their video in six-millimeter high resolution, will measure 11-foot-5 by 20-foot-9 on the sides facing the sidelines and 7-foot-3 by 12-foot-5 on the baseline sides. The ring is 73-foot-10 in length and 2-foot-1 high.
The video board will make Carril Court the fourth Princeton athletic facility with a video board, joining Princeton Stadium, DeNunzio Pool and Jadwin's indoor track.
The Princeton men will open their home season Nov. 9 against DeSales while the women's team will open their home slate Nov. 14 against Seton Hall.
