Sowers Named Ivy League Player Of The Week
April 16, 2018 | Men's Lacrosse
Michael Sowers had a good month this past week.
Sowers, Princeton's sophomore attackman, put up numbers that would take most players a month or more when he had six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in Princeton's wins over Siena and Dartmouth. His performance earned him the Ivy League Player of the Week award.
His week started with a three-goal, five-assist performance in a 17-11 win over Siena and ended with a three-goal, seven-assist performance against Dartmouth in a 24-13 win. Sowers played basically three quarters of both games.
The seven assists and 10 points were career highs, and he now has five games of at least nine points in his first 26 career games. Every other player in Princeton history combined has 17 such games, and no one else has done it more than three times.
Sowers leads Division I in points per game and assists per game. He also has 72 points on the year (24G, 48A), tying him for fourth on Princeton's single-season list and 10 away from tying his own single-season record, which he set last year as a freshman.
His 48 assists have tied the school single-season record with two regular season games left, Saturday at Harvard and April 28 at home against Cornell.
Sowers already has 154 career points.
