Following Historic PSU Win, George Huhmann Earns Third EIVA Offensive Player Of The Week Award

Princeton sophomore George Huhmann earned his third EIVA Offensive Player of the Week award Monday after helping Princeton clinch an EIVA postseason bid in historic fashion Friday night. Huhmann poured in 19 kills and hit .531 for the Tigers in their first ever road victory at Penn State, a win that assured the Tigers would return to the postseason later this week.

Huhmann, who also won Player of the Week honors following the earlier Penn State/Saint Francis sweep, as well as a home-and-home sweep of NJIT, averaged 5.3 kills, 1.3 digs, and 5.9 points in the final two road matches of the regular season. Despite losing the finale at Saint Francis, Huhmann closed the season with 23 kills, and he added seven digs in the finale.

The weekend moved Huhmann to the top of the EIVA charts in both kills/set (3.6) and points/set (4.5) this season. He also ranks in the NCAA Top 20 in three major stats; he is seventh in points/set, 15th in blocks/set (1.07), and 20th in kills/set.

Princeton will take on top-seeded George Mason Thursday night, following the completion of the Harvard-Penn State semifinal. Check back later this week for a preview of the 2018 EIVA Championships.
