Huhmann, who also earned 2017 EIVA Newcomer of the Year honors along with his first-team distinction, was brilliant in leading Princeton from an 0-4 league start to a return trip to the postseason, which opens Thursday at 7:30 at top-seeded George Mason. He won three EIVA Offensive Player of the Week honors, including the most recent after leading the Tigers to their first win ever at Penn State, and he added a Defensive Player of the Week award following home wins over Penn State and Saint Francis.
Huhmann, who had 19 kills and hit .531 in a dominating 3-0 win over Penn State, concluded his season with some impressive numbers. He is the EIVA leader in kills/set (3.6) and points/set (4.5), and he ranks fourth in blocks/set (1.1). Those numbers translate well on the national scene also; he ranks 7th in the NCAA in points/set, 15th in blocks/set, and 20th in kills/set.
Oboh, who earned First-Team All-EIVA honors in both 2015 and 2017, was a defensive force for the Tigers after dealing with an early-season injury. He led the EIVA in blocks (1.2) and ranked sixth nationally, and he was named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week following a home-and-home sweep of NJIT. In Princeton's last three matches against fellow EIVA semifinalists, Oboh averaged 1.7 kills and 1.6 blocks per set.
