Brown Named Ivy League Rookie Of The Week
April 23, 2018 | Men's Lacrosse
With each point Chris Brown had Saturday against Harvard, he moved up one more spot on the freshman scoring list for Princeton men's lacrosse. By the time the day was over, he was in elite, elite company.
Brown had three goals and an assist against Harvard in Princeton's 15-10 win Saturday, a performance that earned him Ivy League Rookie Of The Week honors. He also vaulted from seventh place to fourth place among Princeton freshman scorers, trailing only Michael Sowers, Kevin Lowe and Ryan Boyle. Yes, elite is the right word.
Brown, the only Princeton player with at least one goal in every game this year, had his three goals on three shots against the Crimson. He now has 22 goals and 15 assists, leaving him and Sowers as the only Princeton freshmen ever with at least 20 goals and 10 assists. Sowers (82 points last year), Lowe (55 in 1991) and Boyle (53 in 2001) are the only Princeton freshmen who have ever scored more points in a season than Brown.
Princeton hosts Cornell Saturday at 1, and a win and a Dartmouth win over Brown would get the Tigers into the Ivy League tournament.
