Updated - More National Honors For George Baughan
April 30, 2018 | Men's Lacrosse
UPDATED TUESDAY WITH ADDITIONAL HONORS AND LINKS
Tuesday TigerBlog on George Baughan
Baltimore Sun National Player of the Week story
US Lacrosse/Warrior National Player of the Week Story
The honors continue to roll in for George Baughan. The Princeton freshman defender added two more national awards Tuesday, as he was named the National Player of the Week by the Baltimore Sun and to the USIILA Team of the Week. This is in addition to being the Ivy League Rookie of the Week and the US Lacrosse/Warrior National Player of the Week.
Michael Sowers has moved back into the top spot in Division I in points per game, and he has his teammate George Baughan to thank for that.
It was Baughan who held Cornell's Jeff Teat without a goal or an assist in Saturday's 14-8 Princeton win, and in doing so, Baughan enabled Sowers to edge past Teat, who had come into the game ranked No. 1, ahead of then-No.2 Sowers.
In addition to locking up one of the best attackmen the Ivy League has seen in a long time - not to mention one who had five goals and seven assists against Princeton a year ago - Baughan also caused four turnovers, had four ground balls and scored one goal of his own.Â
Baughan became the third Princeton freshman to be named Ivy Rookie of the Week this year, joining classmates Andrew Song and Chris Brown.
