USC Wins Three Tight Sets To Claim Win Over Princeton
January 31, 2019 | Men's Volleyball
In his second match of the season, senior outside Kendall Ratter gave Princeton an early glimpse of what he could bring his senior season. While it wasn't enough on this night against a powerful USC team, it certainly was a source of excitement in a 3-0 loss to the Trojans.
Princeton saw its two-match win streak end Thursday night in a hard-fought 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 loss to a USC that recently defeated #3 UC-Irvine and also took a set off #1 Long Beach State. Ratter had a brilliant performance for the Tigers; he hit .421 with 12 kills, and he added a trio of service aces and five digs during the match.
Junior All-American George Huhmann added 11 kills and three digs, while Parker Dixon followed his 25-kill effort in Tuesday's win over UCSD with eight kills, three digs and a block. Freshman Brady Wedbush added six kills for Princeton, while sophomore setter Joe Kelly paced the offense with 32 assists. He was also one of three players with three digs for Princeton, though the Tigers simply couldn't slow down the USC offense. The Trojans hit .508 for the match, committed only five errors and were blocked only once in the win.
Princeton will conclude its road trip Friday night at #12 CSUN.
