Parker Dixon Impresses In Debut Week, Claims First EIVA Offensive Player Of The Week Honor
January 07, 2019 | Men's Volleyball
Junior Parker Dixon faced a loaded schedule in the opening week of competition for the 2019 season, and he showed just how tough he could be for opposing EIVA teams this season. The Dallas native averaged 4.0 kills per set against a set of teams that included two of the six top-ranked teams, and he was honored Monday as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week.
Dixon ended the week with 52 kills, 14 digs, eight blocks and five service aces to open his third season as a starter. He hit .286 for the week, though his final two matches saw Dixon hit .485 (with 19 kills) against Ball State and .321 against #14 Purdue Fort Wayne.
"It was great to see all the hard work that Parker put into the weight room and this summer and fall pay off in the first few matches of the season," head coach Sam Shweisky said. "Parker's work ethic off the court the last eight months has been outstanding and it is great to see it pay significant dividends for him personally and for the team. The exciting part is that Parker still has an incredibly high ceiling that he has not yet reached. We are excited to see him continue to improve."
Dixon will lead Princeton to George Mason this weekend, where the Tigers will face another Top-5 program in UC Irvine (Friday, 5 pm) and Erskine (Saturday, 5 pm) in the 2019 Uvaldo Acosta Invitational.
