Women's Volleyball Earns Third-Straight Sweep, Downs Dartmouth 3-0

HANOVER, N.H. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team made it three-straight sweeps Saturday evening inside Leede Arena as it defeated Ivy League opponent Dartmouth College 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-22).
The Tigers have now won four matches in a row, ten-straight sets of volleyball and 12 out of its last 13 sets. The victory moves Princeton to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in Ivy League play.
Senior Natasha Skov had another dominant performance for Princeton as she tallied a match-high 13 kills with a hitting percentage of .333 while also adding nine digs. Senior Jessie Harris led the match in assists with 43 and also contributed eight digs and six kills. Senior Maggie O'Connell also made an impact as she finished with 12 kills while junior Clare Lenihan added 10. Defensively, sophomore Cameron Dames had 19 digs to lead the match while Skov, O'Connell and Lenihan each had three blocks.
The opening set started as a back-and-forth battle, but with the Tigers ahead 9-8 they used a 6-0 run led off by a kill by O'Connell to take a 15-8 lead. The Big Green was able to earn two-straight points, but Princeton responded with a 3-0 run that featured a kill and a block by Skov along with a Lenihan kill to take a lead of 18-9. When ahead 20-12, the Tigers used a 4-0 run keyed by a kill from freshman Olivia Schewe to give themselves a set point which they would capitalize on in the form of a senior Devon Peterkin kill.
Dartmouth got off to a hot start in the second set as it took a 3-0 lead early. Despite the early deficit, Princeton was able to bounce back when it was down 5-3 thanks to a 6-0 run that put it ahead, 9-5. The Tigers' dominant stretch featured a pair of kills by both Lenihan and Harris, a kill by Skov and a kill by Peterkin. From there, Princeton never looked back as it went on to win the set 25-17 with Peterkin closing the set out with a kill.
Princeton opened the third set with a 3-0 run but Dartmouth showed resilience and would tie the score at 6-6 and 8-8. With the score knotted at 8-8, Schewe and O'Connell would each record a kill and while the Big Green were able to keep it close, they would not lead or tie the score again for the rest of the match. Lenihan's kill courtesy of a Harris assist sealed the match for the Tigers as Princeton would win the third set, 25-22.
