Princeton Beats Ottawa, Falls to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Princeton Tigers collected another split during the second day of action during its West Coast trip.
The Tigers earned a 16-10 win over the Ottawa Spirit before a 10-7 loss to the Santa Clara Broncos. Princeton is now 12-12 overall and will continue with Northeast Water Polo Conference action next week. Head coach Dustin Litvak's group heads on the road to take on Brown Saturday (Nov. 2, 1 p.m.) before two at MIT (10 a.m.) and No. 10 Harvard (3 p.m.) on Sunday (Nov. 3).
Princeton 16, Ottawa 10
The Tigers started quickly ripping off the first 10 goals of the contest, not allowing a goal until 4:41 mark of the second quarter. Princeton held an 11-1 advantage at the intermission. The Tigers weren't threatened the rest of the way, running off to a 15-4 lead after 24 minutes before a 16-10 decision.

Santa Clara 10, Princeton 7
After the Broncos posted the first goal of the game, tallies from Yurian Quinones and Mitchell Cooper put Princeton ahead with 3:52 left in the quarter. Santa Clara answered with two more goals and held a 3-2 lead following eight minutes.
Santa Clara's offense tacked on, securing three more goals to jump ahead, 6-2, with 4:10 to go in the first half. Keller Maloney cut the Tigers' deficit to three (6-3) at halftime.
Princeton fought back as Wyatt Benson's tally as the clock read 6:23 in the fourth stanza set the score at 7-6, but Santa Clara ripped off three straight to put the game away.
