Parker Dixon Earns Second EIVA Player Of The Week Honor
February 04, 2019 | Men's Volleyball
Junior Parker Dixon had two matches with 20+ kills and hit .433 during Princeton's swing through California last week, and it was enough to earn him his second EIVA Offensive Player of the Week award already during this young season.
Dixon, who also claimed the honor following the opening week of the 2019 season, averaged 4.8 kills, 1.0 blocks and 5.4 points per set while playing against UC-San Diego and a pair of nationally ranked programs, USC and CSUN. Dixon led the Tigers to a 3-1 win over UCSD with 25 kills and a .447 hitting percentage, and he nearly guided the Tigers to a win over 15th-ranked CSUN in the California finale. Dixon had 24 kills and eight blocks in the match, and he hit .487 over the five-set thriller, in a 3-2 loss to the 12th-ranked Matadors.
"We are all very proud of how Parker performed this past week in California," head coach Sam Shweisky said. "His ability to switch seamlessly between outside and opposite gave our team a lot of flexibility and is a testament to Parker's growth-minded approach to the game. We are very excited about what Parker will be able to do when conference play starts this week."
This is the third EIVA individual honor of Dixon's career; he also claimed one as a freshman when he was named the National Offensive Player of the Week. A three-year starter, Dixon could go over the 700-kill and 300-dig marks this weekend when Princeton opens EIVA play against Charleston.
