Princeton Sends Out Seniors In Style With Penn State Sweep, Will Open Home EIVAs vs. St. Francis

What happened Saturday night in Dillon Gym was hardly the destination to a magical 2019 journey, but it sure was a special step for all involved.

The Princeton men's volleyball team capped its greatest EIVA regular season in program history with a 3-0 sweep of Penn State on Senior Night in Dillon Gym. Though the Tigers had already clinched the outright regular season title and home court in the playoffs, it was still a fitting exclamation point on a brilliant run through the East.

Of course, the next steps will be the most important ones, and those begin Thursday night in Dillon Gym during the EIVA semifinals. Second-seeded George Mason will open against third-seeded Penn State in the first semifinal at 5 pm. Top-seeded Princeton will take on fourth-seeded Saint Francis in the following match at 8 pm; the winners will meet Saturday night at 7 pm for the EIVA championship at Dillon Gym. Junior All-American George Huhmann capped one of the most incredible two-week runs with 11 kills, four blocks and a .625 hitting percentage, while senior Kendall Ratter powered through the emotions of Senior Day with nine kills, four aces, four digs and two blocks. Junior Parker Dixon added eight kills and four blocks, while sophomore setter Joe Kelly paced the offense with 30 assists. It was one of the most efficient offensive performances for the team in years, as Princeton hit .500 during its fourth consecutive victory over the Nittany Lions.

Princeton split its season series against Saint Francis, though the Tigers were impressive in a 3-0 sweep of the Red Flash on Friday night.
