Sowers Named Ivy League Co-Player Of The Week

There are five players in NCAA Division I history who have averaged at least six points per game for their careers, and none of them are named "Gait" or "Thompson" or "Powell."
Only one of them is an active Division I player. In fact, only one of them has played this decade. Or the one before it. Or the one before that.
Michael Sowers pushed his career points per game total to 6.02 with a 10-point performance against Harvard, putting him in fifth place all-time in Division I history as he continues to have the highest points per game average in Division I in the last 38 years.
The three-goal, seven-assist outing against Harvard earned Sowers his second-straight Ivy League Player of the Week honor. This time, he shared the award with Yale's TD Ierlan, who won 16 of 17 face-offs and had 13 ground balls and a goal against Albany, the team from which he transferred after leading the Great Danes to the Final Four a year ago.
As for Sowers, he now has 247 points in 41 career games. He is tied with Kevin Lowe for the Princeton career points record (Lowe played 60 games), and the junior also has the top three single-season points totals in program history, with 83 a year ago and 82 this year and freshman year.
He also now has reached double figures in points in a game three times in his career; Princeton has eight other double-figure point scoring games in its its history, and no other player did it more than once.
Princeton is at Cornell Saturday to end the regular season. A win over the Big Red by three or more goals and a Brown win over Dartmouth would put the Tigers into the Ivy League tournament, or a win over Cornell by any margin and Dartmouth win over Brown. Princeton cannot reach the ILT without a win over the Big Red.
Cornell would be in the ILT with a loss by one or two or six or more goals should Brown defeat Dartmouth.
