AVCA Poll
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the first time since Feb. of 2015, the Princeton Tigers are in the AVCA Coaches' Poll, the organization announced today.
The Tigers are tied at the No. 13 position. Hawaii took the top spot with 11 first-place votes (235 points) followed by Long Beach State, Pepperdine, USC and UC-Santa Barbara. Princeton's opponent in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, Barton, received votes.
This is only the second time since 1998 that Princeton has been ranked in the top-15 poll and 15th time overall (records date back to 1986). The No. 13 ranking isn't far removed from Princeton's best-ever national rank; following the 1998 EIVA championship run over both Penn State and Rutgers-Newark, the Tigers reached No. 11 in back-to-back polls.
"We are very humbled to have been recognized by the committee and placed in the prestigious AVCA Top 15," said head coach Sam Shweisky. "It is a great honor and we're excited for what lies ahead in the NCAA Tournament."
