PRINCETON, N.J. – As the No. 13 Princeton Tigers get ready for their NCAA Quarterfinal matchup vs. No. 3 Pepperdine, George Huhmann and Parker Dixon were named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-Americans, the organization announced today.
Huhmann picked up his second All-America accolade while Dixon earned his first career honor. These two join the like of Marin Gjaja '91, Derek Devens '98, and Cody Kessel '15 as the only All-Americans in program history.
:We are so proud of Parker and George for being recognized as All-Americans by the AVCA," said head coach Sam Shweisky. "This is such a prestigious award and it speaks to the hours of hard work and sacrifice they have both put into making themselves be the best they can be. "They join a very special group of Princeton Volleyball All-Americans."
It's been a remarkable year for Huhmann as he was awarded the Uvaldo Acosta Memorial EIVA Player of the Year becoming the first Tiger to ever win the nomination. He later helped the Tigers to their second EIVA title in program history, leading to him be picked as the EIVA Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Huhmann leads the EIVA in kills (386) and points (471.5), sits second in hitting percentage (.353), third in kills per set (3.48), total blocks (96), points per set (4.2), fourth in block assists (85), eighth in service aces (32) and solo blocks (11). Among the national ranks, he's among the top 50 in points per set (16th), hitting percentage (21st), kills per set (22nd) and blocks per set (42nd).
Dixon, like Huhmann, was also named to the EIVA Tournament squad and was All-EIVA first team. Dixon was among the conference's best, placing fourth in kills (357), points (407.5), sixth in kills per set (3.25), points per set (3.7) and eighth in hitting percentage (.290). Dixon was 39th in the country in attacks per set, 37th in kills per set, 38th in points per set and 47th in hitting percentage.
