Sowers Named First-Team All-America; Baughan Is Honorable Mention
May 23, 2019 | Men's Lacrosse
So let's take a look at the junior year that Michael Sowers has had for the Princeton men's lacrosse team.
Single-season record for points? Done. Breaking the school's 25-year-old career record in just three years? Done.
First-team All-Ivy League for the third time? Tewaaraton Award finalist? Done and done.
Anything missing? Oh yeah. First-team All-America.
Done.
Sowers has been named a USILA first-team All-America in the team that was announced Thursday morning. Sowers was rewarded for his 37 goals and 53 assists, for a Princeton-record 90 points, a total that now gives him the top three single-season totals in program history.
The Tewaaraton Award winner will be announced next Thursday in Washington, D.C.
In addition to Sowers, George Baughan has been named honorable mention All-America. The sophomore defenseman, like Sowers, was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection after a season that saw him lead Princeton with 23 caused turnovers while adding a goal, an assist and 24 ground balls.
Princeton seniors Emmet Cordrey and Charlie Durbin were named to the South team for the USILA North-South Game, to be held Friday at 7:30 on Tierney Field in Spark, Md.
