Princeton Tied For No. 12 in Final AVCA Coaches' Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers finished tied for No. 12 in the final American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Division I-II Coaches' Poll.
"We were all very excited about this season," said head coach Sam Shweisky. "Being able to play Pepperdine in a hard fought 5-set match in the final six of the NCAA Championships was very special for our team. To be recognized by the AVCA poll and move up to the No. 12 spot is a great honor."
The Long Beach State 49ers took the top spot after winning its second straight NCAA title. Hawaii was No. 2, followed by Pepperdine, Lewis and USC.
This is only the third time since 1998 that Princeton has been ranked in the top-15 poll and 15th time overall (records date back to 1986). The No. 12 ranking isn't far removed from Princeton's best-ever national rank; following the 1998 EIVA championship run over both Penn State and Rutgers-Newark, the Tigers reached No. 11 in back-to-back polls.
The Tigers' 18 wins are the most in Shweisky's tenure and the second most in program history. They won their second ever EIVA Championship and the first since 1998.
