July 15, 2019 | Men's Volleyball
CHICAGO, Ill. – George Huhmann and the United States' national volleyball team picked up the silver medal at the FIVB Volleyball Nations League Finals this weekend at the Credit Union 1 Arena.
The U.S. team dropped the gold-medal match to Russia in four sets (25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20). The squad's silver medal was an improvement from last year's bronze while Russia earned its second straight gold medal.
To open the VNL Finals, the United States defeated France and Russia before a five-set thrilling victory over Brazil in the semifinals. Brazil led two sets to one before the U.S. unit rallied for a 25-20 win in set four and a 15-9 decision in set five.
Arguably one of the greatest individual seasons in Princeton history, Huhmann earned his second All-American accolade in April. He was also awarded the Uvaldo Acosta Memorial EIVA Player of the Year becoming the first Tiger to ever win the nomination. He later helped the Tigers to their second EIVA title in program history, leading to him be picked as the EIVA Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
