No. 12 Men’s Volleyball’s Nelsen Named AVCA Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, K.Y. – Sophomore Jerod Nelsen of the No. 12 Princeton University men's volleyball team garnered his second honor of the week Tuesday afternoon as he was named the Sports Impact/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Week.
Nelsen was also honored as the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, February 3.
On the week he accumulated a team-high 43 kills on a .434 hitting percentage , a team-high 16 digs, five blocks and four service aces as he helped Princeton go 2-1.
Nelsen had hit .378 and had a career-high 20 kills along with four digs, four blocks and one service ace against the No. 15 University of California, San Diego, on Tuesday, January 28 in La Jolla, California.
In the Tigers' victory over the No. 8 University of California, Los Angeles, on Thursday, January 30 inside the Wooden Center he hit. 550 and had 13 kills, six digs along with one service ace.
In Princeton's final match of the week against California State University, Northridge, on Saturday, February 1, Nelsen finished with 10 kills on a .421 hitting percentage along with six digs and two service aces.
Nelsen and the Tigers will be in action next against the New Jersey Institute of Technology (5-2) on Friday, February 7 in Newark, New Jersey at 6 p.m.
