Sowers Named National Player Of The Year; Four Named To All-Freshman Team

Inside Lacrosse called its selection for the Division I Player of the Year a "clear choice," and the people at IL will get no disagreement on that assessment from anyone who saw Princeton play in this abbreviated 2020 season.

Michael Sowers, who put up a season's worth of points for most in just five games, was selected by Inside Lacrosse as its 2020 Division I Player of the Year. Sowers scored 16 goals and added 31 assists, leaving him with 47 points in just five games, all of which were Princeton victories. The unbeaten Tigers finished third in the final Inside Lacrosse Maverik/media polls and the USILA coaches' poll and second in the US Lacrosse magazine poll.

Sowers averaged 9.40 points per game and 6.20 assists per game, both of which would have been NCAA single-season records.

In addition to that award, Princeton also had four players represented on the College Crosse All-Freshman team. Midfielder Alex Slusher, defenseman Ben Finlay, shortstick defensive midfielder Sam English and face-off specialist Tyler Sandoval were all honorable mention selections.
