No. 9 Men's Water Polo Takes Down No. 3 Stanford For First Time In Program History, 11-10

SANTA CLARA – Roko Pozaric's goal with 13 seconds to go gave No. 9 Men's Water Polo an 11-10 victory over the No. 3 Stanford Cardinal on Sunday afternoon.
It's the program's first win (11 games) over No. 3 Stanford ever.
Princeton started fast with three of the first four goals of the game, taking a 3-2 advantage into the second frame. The Tigers were up 5-3 with four minutes to go in the first half, but the Cardinal rallied to tie game at 5-all. Pozaric put the Tigers ahead, 6-5, as the game hit halftime.
The two teams exchanged goals to begin the second half before Stanford tie the contest again at 8-all with 2:47 left in the third stanza. Goals by Vladan Mitrovic and Yurian Quinones pushed head coach Dustin Litvak's group back ahead, 10-8, as the fourth quarter got started.
Stanford made one more push with two consecutive goals before Pozaric's game winner on the powerplay. The Cardinal pulled their goalie, but their shot was off the post to finish the contest.
Princeton is currently on a five-game winning streak and has won 11 of 12 in the month of October. The Tigers will welcome St. Francis-Brooklyn (12 p.m.) and Iona (5 p.m.) next Saturday to DeNunzio Pool.
