Hannah Davey & Michael Ruttlen, Jr. Named Fall PNC Student-Athlete Achievers
October 06, 2022 | Field Hockey, Football, General
The PNC Bank Student-Athlete Achiever Award, now in its eighth year, provides Princeton Athletics the opportunity to identify two student-athletes per season, as nominated by their head coaches, who have excelled not only in their competitive landscape, but in their overall achievement as a member of the Princeton University Community. Princeton Athletics thanks its partner, PNC Bank, for its continued support of the department and partnership in highlighting the exceptional efforts of Tiger student-athletes both on and off the field of play.
HANNAH DAVEY '23 (Field Hockey)
Hannah Davey is a senior midfielder and two-time captain for Princeton field hockey. She has earned All-Ivy honors in each of her three seasons, and helped lead the Tigers to the NCAA championship game in 2019 while garnering second-team All-America honors.
Off the field, Davey is a leader within the Athlete Ally organization, and has been a three-year member of the Varsity Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, helping to enhance the Princeton student-athlete experience.
Davey also volunteers with the nonprofit "Let Her Play," encouraging young girls to be active and engage in sport. Additionally, she traveled to Vietnam this past summer as part of the Coach for College program, where she taught academic subjects, athletics and life skills to underserved Vietnamese youth.
Davey is a sociology major from Derbyshire, England.
MICHAEL RUTTLEN JR. '23 (Football)
Michael Ruttlen, Jr. is a team captain and senior defensive back for Princeton football. A key member of the Tigers secondary, Ruttlen tied for the team lead in interceptions during Princeton's 2021 Ivy Championship season.
Ruttlen is active with the Black Student-Athlete Collective, Christian Union Nova and Athletes in Action. He also serves as a residential college advisor for Butler College as well as an undergraduate researcher in Princeton's Petry lab.
During the pandemic, Ruttlen helped process COVID test kits in the university's testing center while also volunteering with Princeton's Vote100 initiative. For these selfless efforts, he was nominated for the All-State AFCA Good Works Team.
From Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Ruttlen is a molecular biology major with certificates in Spanish and global health policy.
