Defending EIVA Champion Men’s Volleyball Announces 2023 Schedule

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's volleyball team will look to defend its Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) title and return to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season in 2023, as Head Coach Sam Shweisky announced the team's schedule for the upcoming season.
Princeton defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the 2022 EIVA Championship match, 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 27-25, 25-18), to win in its third conference championship, and Shweisky's second. The Tigers made the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history, and won 10-consecutive matches in 2022, the second-longest winning streak in school history.
The Tigers return EIVA Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-EIVA honoree, and EIVA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Ben Harrington, along with Second Team All-EIVA honoree Nate Thompson.
Joining them will be Brady Wedbush, Alexander Mrkalj, James Hartley, Nyherowo Omene, Gavin Leising, Henry Wedbush, Matt Suh and Josh Coan, who all saw significant action in 2022. Princeton also welcomes seven talented newcomers in 2023.
Schedule Notes
- Princeton will take on four opponents that finished inside the final 2022 NVA/AVCA Men's Division I-II Coaches Poll; UCLA, Pepperdine, Penn State, and Grand Canyon.
- A pair of opponents who also played in the 2022 NCAA Tournament are on the schedule, UCLA and Pepperdine
- Princeton hosts nine regular season matches inside Dillon Gymnasium, with the first being on Friday, February 3rd, against Sacred Heart at 7 p.m.
- The Tigers open regular season play at D'Youville on Monday, January 9th.
- The final regular season match takes place inside Dillon Gymnasium against NJIT on Friday, April 14th.
- The EIVA Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, April 19th, with the championship match taking place on Saturday, April 22nd.
- The NCAA Tournament begins with the first round on May 2nd.
