February 24, 2022 | General, Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Basketball
Princeton Athletics and PNC Bank are proud to recognize our Winter 2022 PNC Student-Athlete Achiever Award recipients -- Grace Stone (women's basketball) and Colten Young (men's swimming & diving) -- for their efforts as all-around student-athletes.
GRACE STONE '23 (Women's Basketball)
Grace Stone is a junior and three-year starter for Princeton women's basketball. She helped the Tigers to Ivy Championships in each of her first two seasons, and once again has the Tigers atop the league standings. Off the court, Stone helped found the Black Student-Athlete Collective, which aims to advocate for and support student-athletes of color and their Princeton experience. She also serves on the executive team for Princeton Athletics' Tigers Together initiative and as a representative for the Ivy League's "8 Against Hate" diversity and inclusion committee. In 2020, Stone worked as a Media Intern for the Poll Hero Project, helping to recruit over 30,000 volunteers to staff election polling locations nationwide. Stone, from Glen Cove, New York, is an African American Studies major pursuing a certificate in American Studies.
COLTEN YOUNG '22 (Men's Swimming & Diving)
A senior co-captain for Princeton men's swimming & diving, Colten Young has etched his name in the records books as one of the top divers in program history. Young holds the school record for the 3-Meter and Platform events, while also ranking top-three in the 1-Meter. In 2020, he was an NCAA qualifier and All-America in all three events. Out of the pool, Young serves as the Vice President of Athlete Ally, helping to champion LGBTQI+ equality. He recently joined a small group of peers to form the Queer Student-Athlete Collective with the goal of building community and visibility of queer student-athletes at Princeton.Additionally, Young has facilitated inter-team conversations as a SCORRE leader, and supported education around sexual violence in his role as a SHARE peer. Young is a Psychology major from Coto de Caza, California.
