Princeton Earns Maximum 12 Bids to NCAA Fencing Championships
March 15, 2022 | General, Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Princeton has qualified the maximum 12 fencers to the NCAA Championships next week at Notre Dame, the NCAA has announced.
Princeton, Columbia, Ohio State and Notre Dame are the only programs to get the maximum 12 bids. Each fencer will compete in 23 round-robin bouts with each win gaining a point for a fencer's team. The fencers with the top four win totals in each of the six weapons will advance to the individual national title competition, which has no bearing on the team total. The round-robin bouts are five-touch bouts while the individual semis and finals are 15-touch bouts.
Selections were determined between performance at last weekend's NCAA regional (60 percent) and regular-season results (40 percent).
The NCAA championships will begin with the women's competition March 24-25 and follow with the men's competition March 26-27. The team title is a combined men's/women's title, so the team in front after the first two days of competition will have to maintain a lead throughout the men's competition to win the team title.
Princeton's selections are below. An event preview will follow next week.

Men's Saber
