Princeton Has Eight Named To Inside Lacrosse Mid-Season All-American Team

The Princeton men's lacrosse team has made something of a huge jump in the first seven games of the 2022 season. The Tigers were unranked in the preseason in every poll but one, which had them at No. 18. They were not in anybody's NCAA tournament predictions.

Now Princeton is 5-2, with three wins over teams ranked in the top six of this week's poll. Princeton is now ranked sixth by the USILA and Inside Lacrosse.

To illustrate how much Princeton's stock has risen in the first two months of the season, look no further than the Inside Lacrosse mid-season All-American team. Princeton is represented by eight players, after having two in the preseason IL team and none on the USILA pre-season team.

The last time Princeton had eight players earn All-American postseason honors was back in 2001, when the Tigers won their sixth NCAA title.

The eight Tigers who are represented are:

Jake Stevens
Second-team SSDM
Stevens has 14 goals and a 50 percent shooting percentage that ranks ninth in Division I. He also is second on the team with 28 ground balls.

Andrew Song
Third-team LSM
Song has 10 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls.

George Baughan
Honorable mention Defense
Baughan has six caused turnovers, nine ground balls and an assist.

Chris Brown
Honorable mention Attack
Brown leads the team in assists (13) and points (33) and is fourth in Division I shooting percentage (20 goals, 38 shots, .526)

Sam English
Honorable mention Midfield
English has 12 goals and nine assists, as well as three caused turnovers and 10 ground balls.

Ben Finlay
Honorable mention Defense
Finlay is tied for the team lead with 10 caused turnovers and also has 11 ground balls.

Erik Peters
Honorable mention Goalie
Peters has twice been named the Ivy League Player of the Week and is ranked sixth in Division I in saves per game and 14^th in save percentage.

Alexander Vardaro
Honorable mention Midfield
Vardaro has 12 goals and eight assists.
