Peters Named One Of 25 Nominees For Tewaaraton Award

Erik Peters didn't start the season on anybody's list for major awards. Now he finds himself as one of the top 25 players in the country.

He is a microcosm of the Princeton men's lacrosse team, which went from unranked in the preseason to being ranked third in Division I in every major poll and having the No. 2 RPI.

Peters, the Tigers' senior goalie, is one of 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award, the top individual honor in college lacrosse. The list of 25 will be cut to the five finalists in three weeks.

Peters, one of three goalies among the final 25, has a 10.62 goals-against average and .578 save percentage, which ranks seventh in Division I. He's also made at least 14 saves in five of 11 games and made 57 saves in a three-game stretch against Maryland, Georgetown and Rutgers, all of whom are ranked in the top five. He has twice been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, and he was also named to the USILA Team of the Week once this season.
