No. 3/4 Princeton Rolls Past Marist 18-7
April 05, 2022 | Men's Lacrosse
Marist longstick midfielder JT Roselle spun one way and then another, switched hands, survived a few checks, spun a few more times and ultimately bounced one into the back of the night. The prettiest goal of the night belonged to the Red Foxes.
The rest? It was pretty much all Princeton.
The third-ranked Tigers got four goals from Christian Ronda, six more points from Chris Brown and a defensive effort that shut out the visitors for a 28:04 stretch that spanned the first through third quarters en route to an 18-7 win Tuesday night. Princeton's Lukas Stanat and Jack Ringhofer scored their first career goals.
Princeton improved to 7-2 on the season and 21-0 all-time against teams currently in the MAAC. The Tigers used 43 players in the game.
The win came in Princeton's first game since Feb. 22 that was against a team that hasn't been ranked this year, ending a span of six such games, in which the Tigers were 4-2. Up next is another ranked team, No. 13 Boston University, who will be on Sherrerd Field Saturday at 1.
Marist led 2-1 early before Princeton went into defensive wipeout mode. By the time the Red Foxes scored again, Princeton had put up nine straight to take full control. Only a monster night by Marist goalie Anthony Novellano, who made 20 saves, kept it from being a larger margin.
Jamie Atkinson had his first career three-goal game. Sam English and Alex Slusher both had two goals and an assist, and Sean Cameron had his first career two-goal game.
Novellano stole a few more Princeton goals as he faced 58 shots, but with the way the Tigers were defending it didn't really matter. Princeton hounded Marist into 21 turnovers, and 10 different players had at least one caused turnover, with two each for Pace Billings and Jake Stevens.

Ronda's four goals were one short of his career high. Brown's six points came on two goals and four assists as he continues to move up the Tiger career lists, as he is now in a four-way tie for 17th in goals with 94 and in 16th place in points with 151.Pace Billings with a nice forced turnover that turns into a Chris Brown goal on the other end!
