Ivy League Honors Valerie Nutakor as Rookie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Freshman Valerie Nutakor of the Princeton University women's volleyball team was honored by the Ivy League for her dominant weekend at the Sacred Heart Tournament, as she was named Rookie of the Week Monday.

In the Tigers' three matches, Nutakor led the team in kills and kills per set with 53 and 4.42. She recorded two double-doubles, and was also third on the team in digs with 27.

Nutakor had a match-high 13 kills, 10 digs and two service aces in Princeton's 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 27-25) win victory over Stony Brook on Friday, September 10. In the Tigers' second match of the day, a narrow 3-2 (19-25, 13-25, 25-22, 25-23, 19-17) loss to Sacred Heart, she again led the match in kills with 23 on a .353 hitting percentage, and compiled 12 digs.

In Princeton's final match of the tournament, a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-16, 25-23) win over Seton Hall on Sunday, September 11, Nutakor had a match-high 17 kills and hit .341, while also adding five digs.

Nutakor and the Tigers are in action next against Rider (2-7) on Wednesday, September 14, inside Dillon Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
